Shrorea curtisii is an emergent tree found in forest ecosystems, thriving in its natural habitat on dry soils of coastal hills. In Malaya, it ascends ridges and flourishes in groups within hill dipterocarp forests at elevations ranging from 300 to 850 meters. When out of its habitat, Shorea curtisii thrives well under full sun. The tree is propagated by seed.
