<h4>Culture</h4>
<p>Several locations bear the name of Rambai, such as Kampung Rambai in Brunei and Sungai Rambai in Malacca, Malaysia. In Johor, there is a town named Tampoi. The use of the names Rambai or Tampoi for these villages indicates the historical presence of Rambai in the area. Furthermore, a 17th-century Dutch cannon known as Seri Rambai is currently on display at Fort Cornwallis in George Town, Penang, Malaysia.</p>

<p>The dense and round canopy of the Rambai tree creates a stunning sight, especially during the fruiting season when it produces an abundance of yellow-golden fruit. This constant attraction throughout the year may explain why the tree was chosen as a clan name in the Batak ethnic group of Sumatra, Indonesia. In this society, clan names are chosen to reflect gratitude towards nature, beliefs, and geographical locations. Another example of a plant being used in a clan name is Garingging, which refers to the Clotalaria retusa herbaceous legume, popular among farmers as a green manure.</p>

<p>The Rambai tree is known for its abundant fruit production, which is highly coveted by the Batak people of Southern Tapanuli, Indonesia. They have a saying, "Songon bona ni rambe" or "Marbatu songon rambe," to describe a large and successful family member.</p>

<p>The aril of the fruit is not only edible when eaten fresh, but it is also commonly infused in sugar to create delectable sweets, where the skin is also consumed in this process.</p>

<pp>The moderate size of the tree, coupled with its appeal during flowering and fruiting seasons, are the factors that make <i>Baccaurea motleyana</i> a popular choice for planting in public parks.</p>

<h4>Other usages</h4>
<p>The bark, abundant in tannins, is combined with the roots of <i>Melastoma malabathricum</i> in order to create a deep crimson dye.</p>
